It’s been a long day. I was too exhausted to read so I decided to listen to Karen’s podcast, Joyrise-64.  I absolutely love her short five minute posts. I find them  relaxing and inspiring. When I’m tired like this, I like to go to bed thinking about the lessons the quotes and the music teach me. (I am a teacher, after all)  As I was waiting for the podcast to load, I was still  thinking about my day at school and my at risk students and the choices they make.  Unfortunately,  often the choices they make perpetuate their unhappiness. I talk about choices a lot. I want them to realize they have some control in their lives. Choices=consequences.  Poor choices=poor outcomes.  Don’t like the consequences, change the choices. That’s my mantra.

Suddenly, I heard Jimmy Golding singing his song “Now It’s Our Turn”. I’d missed the daily quote completely because I was thinking about my students, but I certainly took notice when  Jimmy started to sing.  It was like he was speaking directly to my at risk students, to me.   He was speaking about making choices.  Suddenly, I wasn’t  exhausted any more.  I felt energized. Have a listen.  It’s a great song with an optimistic message. Thank you Jimmy. Thank you Karen. Good night!
