Leadership Qualities
Filed Under Behaviour Management, The Way I See It
Recently Todd talked about getting hit with a meme, and then he hit me with one. I didn’t really know what a meme was before Todd hit me with one. So I sat there for a moment thinking, and then I did what I usually do when I don’t know something. I googled it. Well actually first I tried to make sense of the word “meme” by doing what I tell my students to do. Look at it in context. Try to figure it out that way, but I still really didn’t get it so I googled “meme” and landed in Wikipedia. The first thing I learned was that I had been pronouncing “meme” incorrectly. Meme apparently rhymes with theme. I’d been pronouncing meme as in memo. Yes, I know there’s some rule for pronouncing words that involves vowels, but I always forget it. Then, I read that meme “refers to a unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another.” Ok, got it. That made sense. Todd was asking me to transfer my notion of ” What are seven qualities we don’t know about you that help you be a leader?” to others via a post in my blog.Ok, I thought. Now I knew how to prounounce meme (as in theme) and I knew what it meant. Things were looking up. Then I noticed Todd wanted me to hit seven other people with this meme. Seven other people? That’s not a huge number, but I don’t know seven other people that I could hit with a meme. Not many people I know blog , and the the one’s I do know are all memed out, except for two- Lisa and Chris. I’ll hit them. Now all I had to think about was the seven qualities other bloggers didn’t know about me.

- I ‘ve shown many young students how to make better choices so that they can have better lives.
