Do I want a Second Life? I’ve been listening to people at work talk about their Second Life experiences, and I must confess that I’m a bit envious. They are having so much fun. It sure is tempting. I like being on the cutting edge of things. I get bored easily - been there, done that and am always looking for a new challenge and a new way to be creative. Having a Second Life could be that challenge. I’d get to be creative, and I’d get to do it my way.

I could do anything I wanted to. I could create my own school. It would be perfect. I wouldn’t have to teach to any standardized tests. I would actually teach something that met the needs of the 70% of kids who do not go to university. I would have my students do a half day co-op placement where they would go to school in the morning and go to work in the afternoon. I would start my school at nine thirty. Research on the teenage brain suggests that a later start would be better for teenagers whose internal clock is out of sync with the adult world. I would…
