Some days I just need a break from business as usual. Today feels like one of those days. I started to write a post about strategies to help dependent underachievers, but I’ve decided I need to take a break and write about something that’s not as serious. Maybe you’d like a little break from it all, too.
I love trivia. Maybe you do as well. I thought I might share some that I came across today in our local paper: Some recently invented words.
- Damnesia, n: “the moment of loss, hesitation and confusion that occurs when you enter into a room and immediately forget why.” (verbotomy.com) (Now I have a name for the problem)
- Floption, n: the choice least likely to succeed.” (David Oleson, Toronto) (I’m going to teach that one to my students when I talk about better choices for better outcomes)
- Quagmore, n: when you keep talking after you’ve already stepped into it. (Craig Fraser, Owen Sound)
- Glucoax, n: “the little shake you give a packet of sugar or sweetner to settle the contents before you rip it open.” (Don Gatling, fun-with-words.com) (I wonder what the noun is for shaking those little packs of pepper we get at fast food outlets?)

There that feels better. There’s nothing like a dose of trivia to brighten up the day. If you have any trivia you’d like to share, I invite you to leave it as a comment. I sure would appreciate it.

Elona,
Thank you for the trivia. It brightened my bleak day.
